How to Pack Parts in 3D to Maximize SLS Density | Formlabs Preform Tips & Tricks
3D Printing a Custom #GoPro Mount for Any Motorcycle Helmet
In this video, we explore the process of 3D printing custom GoPro mounts for #motorcycle helmets. The unique curvature of different helmet models makes traditional manufacturing methods challenging. However, 3D printing offers the flexibility to cater to these high variabilities, allowing for on-demand production without overstock issues. We dive into Preform software, demonstrate how to set up an efficient print job, and reveal the cost and profitability of producing these mounts. By the end of the video, you'll see why 3D printing is perfect for creating tailored helmet accessories.

    Can this trick only be done in an assembly. Can I make a feature in a part for the purpose of creating a surface control but suppress that feature via component control?

    • @MLCCADSystems
      @MLCCADSystems 2 дня назад

      Flow does not distinguish between assembly components and separate bodies in a multi body part. If it is a disconnected body, you can disable it separate from other components as shown in the video.

      If you don't see your feature in the list it was likely merged with the other geometry. Clear the Merge Result checkbox to make it a separate body.

    Is black V5 in any way comparable to tough 1500? I’m interested in low volume production quality with toughness and little to no post processing. I realize I’m asking for a lot however I’m just curious if the black V5 gives us that. It would be worth the printer for me.

    • @MLCCADSystems
      @MLCCADSystems 6 дней назад

      Black V5 actually outperforms Tough 1500 in just about every category - only impact resistance (Notched IZOD) is higher with Tough 1500. Black V5 can resist higher temperatures, is stiffer, and stronger - both in tension and flexion. Regarding post-processing, the support touchpoint sizes are smaller with Black V5, so there will be smaller surface marks left after removing supports. Check out this video (ruclips.net/video/Hr4DKHX9Hsg/видео.html) on support removal - Formlabs showcases Black V5 in this process! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to discuss further, we would love to learn more about your specific application. www.mlc-cad.com/contact-us/

    16:19 except the first cut is at roughly 75% AE instead of the input 45%.

    • @MLCCADSystems
      @MLCCADSystems 9 дней назад

      The parameter that controls the first cut engagement is called Across Overlap. That allows you to adjust the outer most passes relative to the selected geometry. It works in reverse though, so a 0 value would inset the tool fully inside the geometry. In this case, a setting of 25% would get you a 75% initial cut from the side.

    • @MLCCADSystems
      @MLCCADSystems 10 дней назад

      It certainly could be a problem with lids, but it may also be related to unintended leaks or a problem with your study options. Use Check Geometry to visualize the internal closed volume. If the area you think is enclosed isn't actually enclosed, use Leak Tracking to find the hole and close it up.

    This is great, thank you. BUT, I am trying to have twisted pairs of wires to twist around each other. So the path to follow is another twist, not this candy cane 2D path. Is there a way to do this? I will keep trying and will respond here if I discover the answer.

    • @MLCCADSystems
      @MLCCADSystems 10 дней назад

      The candy cane shape was arbitrary for this video, you can use a helix or projected curve as the path and repeat the process of twisting around that helix as many times as needed. The hard part will be determining the pitch of twist and keeping track of how many curves need to be generated for all of the wires.

Does anyone know which mastercam toolpath to use for keyway cutting on a lathe not a mill. The live tool moves back and forth in order to cut keyways while the spindle stays still. I've found not one video online of mastercam toolpath for lathe for keyway cutting with broaching live tool?

      A contour toolpath could be used, but we may also need to modify the post to have the correct orientation locked when doing a broach operation. The spindle as the default output would want to rotate and we would need an option to allow the toolpath to suppress this and move to a proper fixed position. Great question, this video assumes someone at your company has already performed several actions ahead of time. 1) Install and configure SOLIDWORKS PDM on a server computer for your company. 2) Install PDM client and a local vault view on your local computer and provided you with login information (if needed) The screen in this video is simply Windows File explorer, but when you navigate into the local vault view folder (it looks like a blue circle icon) then you will see the additional information coming from the vault. The information you see in the video is a part of the PDM client installation and will only be visible when you are navigating inside a PDM vault view. I hope that helps, if you have additional questions about this talk to your company's PDM administration team. If you don't have PDM yet and would like to learn more about it, contact your reseller. If that is us, you can reach out on our website www.mlc-cad.com/contact-us/

    Did all the other object print successfully?

    • @MLCCADSystems
      @MLCCADSystems Месяц назад

      We didn't print every part we sliced in this webinar, but we followed the Formlabs recommendations to prepare each one. Other than our very first part (which was very big and challenging) we have had zero issues with printing and we always follow the guidelines we show in this video. I hope that helps!

    Do something this detailed with boring and drilling with lathe only. No mill ops. That would be cool too

      My problem in particular was that when I programmed the drill then bore. It didn’t register the hole size from the drill And just tried to do a g70 pass for the bore.

    I am a little bit confused between 8.45 and 9.25. In 8.45 min you are saying 5 lb is expected but then in 0.25 min you are saying it is not expected. Could you please clarify?

    • @MLCCADSystems
      @MLCCADSystems Месяц назад

      There is a common error that happens when you have redundant mates that I was trying to recreate as an illustration, but the solver gave me an ACCURATE answer. I WANTED to create an incorrect result to show you what it looks like when the error happens, but it overcame my poor study setup and gave me accurate results instead. -5 lb is the correct and intuitive answer. I was expecting to see an incorrect one but failed into the correct answer.

Now I can take my time and express my gratitude towards your extremely helpful video. It helped me pass the exam yesterday. Thank you so much for all the videos you made for us. I wish you the best .

    Cimco simulation is a complete waste of time and energy. Cimco will never be more than an editor and transmission tool. Cimco hasvery poor documentation, and the tech support guys rarely know G-code. Simply reporting a bug turns into a week-long circus of trying to explain the issues.

    Do you have a video or source that might help me? Lets say you have a stock size that is 5'x5' in width and length, with the part being a small 2'x2' part inside. How would it be cut that with tabs? Like can you use perimeter cut with tabs?

    • @MLCCADSystems
      @MLCCADSystems Месяц назад

      Tabs can be added along the perimeter of the part as shown in this video series. Im not sure if I fully understand the nature of your question, but if you are an MLC customer we would be happy to talk it over with you.
